The Awakening of Spring: Planting Seeds of Change

Updated: Apr 7

March 20th, 2025, at 5:01 a.m.—the official start of spring. Yet today, the ground is still frozen. Just ten days ago, right before spring arrived, it was 18°C, sunny, and warm—the kind of weather that invites deep breaths and stretches. It’s the perfect time to think about all the work ahead. We spent that splendid day clearing the yard, readying it for the season to come.

Spring: A Season of Awakening

Spring is my favorite time of year because, to me, it’s the true New Year—the real beginning of everything.

Why? Because spring is a season of awakening. The trees, stripped bare and quiet all winter, begin to swell with buds. They are ready to burst into soft greens and vibrant blossoms. The first shoots of grass are making their way through the earth. Now is the time to start seeds indoors, coaxing tiny sprouts from the soil. These seedlings will be strong and ready for the garden once the frost is finally behind us.

Kidding Season on the Farm

And, of course, it's kidding season! Our goats are joyfully bringing new life into the world. Their playful kids wobble on fresh legs as they discover their voices. Across the farm, life is multiplying—like a pair of cardinals diligently building their nest. Our chickens have begun laying eggs again, and we are hopeful our turkeys will have chicks this year. Everything is waking up, stretching toward the sun, ready to thrive.

Planting Seeds for the Future

But spring isn’t just about watching life surround us grow. It’s also a season for planting the seeds of our future. Whatever we hope to create in the months and years ahead starts now. Just like a garden, we must plant our goals with intention. They need to be nurtured with care and given the right conditions to flourish.

Right now, our biggest goal—our seed—is to open our store in town.

Raising Awareness in Agriculture

Why is this important to me? Because I want to bring more awareness to agriculture—what it truly takes to produce food that nourishes both our bodies and the land. My aim is to connect with more people, inspire change, and build a stronger, more resilient food system.

Now, I ask you— 🌱 What seeds are you planting this spring? 🌱 What visions and dreams do you want to take root and grow?

Plant them now. Nurture them. And by the time summer arrives, you may find yourself surrounded by the beginnings of something incredible.

Nurturing Our Goals

It's essential to recognize that just like the seeds we plant in the garden, our goals need attention. Regular check-ins on our progress help keep us motivated. Celebrate small victories along the way. They serve as fuel on this journey.

Learning from setbacks is equally crucial. Each challenge we encounter provides valuable opportunities for growth. Accept these lessons and adjust your plans as necessary. Just as nature adapts to changing circumstances, so should we.

Community and Support

Don’t forget the role of community in this growth process. Surround yourself with supportive individuals who share your vision. Connect with like-minded people who can inspire you and offer new perspectives. Together, you can cultivate a vibrant network of support.

Seek out workshops, classes, and local resources that can help you grow—personally and professionally. There’s strength in collaboration.

Conclusion: The Journey Ahead

As spring unfolds, remember to take time for reflection. Consider your motivations and desires. What matters most to you? Use this season of renewal to set your intentions for the future.

Embrace the process. Watch as your dreams begin to sprout and grow. By harnessing the energy of spring, you can nurture these aspirations and see them flourish.

The journey may not always be easy. But with patience, care, and the right support, you can create something extraordinary.

So go ahead—take that first step! The world is waiting for your seeds of change to blossom.
